Do I need a ticket?
No! The Nakoma Garden Tour is free and open to everyone. Simply arrive during tour hours and enjoy the gardens at your own pace.
Can I make a donation?
Yes! While the tour is free, donations are appreciated. Contributions help support the time and expense of creating the tour, photography, website, printed materials, and future events. You can Venmo Nicole Hansen at @Nicole-Hansen-50
Is this a guided tour?
No. This is a self-guided walking and driving tour. Visit the gardens in any order and spend as much or as little time at each stop as you'd like.
Will the homeowners be there?
Most homeowners plan to be present and are happy to answer questions about their gardens. Please remember that these are private residences, so be respectful of their homes and property.
Can I take photographs?
Absolutely! We encourage you to photograph the gardens for personal enjoyment and to share your experience. Please be courteous and avoid photographing homeowners or other guests without their permission.
Are the gardens accessible?
Each garden is unique. Many include natural stone paths, steps, slopes, uneven ground, or narrow walkways. Please use your own judgment when entering a garden. If a path feels uncomfortable to navigate, many gardens can still be appreciated from the driveway or street.
May I walk through flower beds or beyond the paths?
Please stay on designated walkways, lawns, and paths. Our gardens represent years of work, and many plants are delicate. Help us preserve them by avoiding garden beds and respecting any posted signs.
Can I bring children?
Yes! Families are welcome. We simply ask that children remain with an adult and avoid climbing on walls, fountains, garden structures, or entering planting beds.
Are dogs allowed?
For the comfort of homeowners, visitors, and pets, we ask that dogs remain at home unless they are trained service animals.
Where should I park?
Please park legally on public streets and be considerate of residents. Do not block driveways, sidewalks, mailboxes, or fire hydrants. Some walking between gardens may be required.
Will there be restrooms?
No public restrooms are available during the tour. Please plan accordingly before you begin.
What happens if it rains?
The tour will take place rain or shine unless severe weather creates unsafe conditions. Any updates will be posted on the website and social media.
Can I ask gardening questions?
Of course! Most homeowners enjoy talking about their gardens, plant choices, and design ideas. Please be mindful that they may also be visiting with other guests.
Can I purchase plants?
The gardens are for viewing only. Please do not take cuttings, seeds, flowers, or plants from any garden unless a homeowner specifically offers them.
How long does the tour take?
Most visitors spend about 2–3 hours enjoying all of the gardens, but you're welcome to explore at your own pace.
